Two Azerbaijani citizens were killed and two others injured after the foreign cargo ship TEDY came under drone attack in the Black Sea, Azerbaijan’s Foreign Ministry said.
The ministry identified the victims as Aslan Aliyev and Asim Gasimov.
Two other Azerbaijani citizens, Imran Novruzov and Rauf Aliyev, were hospitalized in the Ukrainian port city of Chornomorsk.
Azerbaijan’s diplomatic missions are coordinating with the relevant authorities to provide consular support, arrange the return of the injured after treatment and complete procedures for repatriating the bodies.
The Foreign Ministry again urged Azerbaijani citizens to avoid traveling to or working in areas where military operations are underway or the security situation remains unstable.
The warning also applies to employment aboard ships and other vehicles operating along routes affected by armed conflict.
The ministry’s statement did not identify who launched the drones that struck the vessel.
