RIYADH, Saudi Arabia - Yemen’s Iran-aligned Houthi movement said it attacked pumping stations on Saudi Arabia’s East-West crude oil pipeline and Riyadh’s international airport, but Saudi authorities had not confirmed that oil infrastructure was hit.
Saudi authorities confirmed intercepting a missile headed toward Riyadh. The Saudi-led coalition later said it destroyed two missile launchers in Sanaa, including one it said had been used to fire the intercepted missile.
There were no independently verified reports of damage, casualties or disruption at the pipeline facilities. Saudi Aramco and the Saudi Energy Ministry had not announced a pipeline shutdown or a reduction in oil exports.
The East-West pipeline carries crude from production facilities in Saudi Arabia’s Eastern Province to the Red Sea port of Yanbu, allowing exports to bypass the Strait of Hormuz. The system can transport about 7 million barrels per day.
The claimed attack came after Riyadh airport began a partial resumption of flights following a two-week shutdown. AZE.US previously reported on the limited reopening.
