BAKU, Sept. 25 — Azerbaijan’s central bank expects the country’s current account surplus to reach $6.1 billion in 2026 and projects 2.4% growth in the non-oil economy.

Central Bank of Azerbaijan Governor Taleh Kazimov presented the estimates at the Azerbaijan International Investment Forum in Baku, according to Vesti Baku.

The non-oil growth projection is based on the regulator’s July assessment, Kazimov said. The $6.1 billion current account forecast was also published in July and was reiterated by central bank officials in September, according to Trend.

Inflation Within Target Range

Kazimov said inflation was within the central bank’s target range and was expected to remain there over the medium term.

He identified geopolitical tensions, fragmentation in global trade, swings in commodity markets and climate-related threats among the main external risks. Those conditions require central banks to pursue more flexible, data-driven policies, he said.

Kazimov also said Azerbaijan intended to attract more international capital for infrastructure, industry and regional projects. He cited the country’s position on the Middle Corridor trade route as an additional advantage for investors.
