Azerbaijan’s weather service has warned of heavy rain, thunderstorms and hail on Sept. 29–30, with snow possible at high elevations and a risk of flash floods and mudflows in several regions.
Rain is expected at times in Baku and on the Absheron Peninsula on Sept. 29. Brief downpours and thunderstorms are possible in parts of the capital and surrounding peninsula.
Wet weather is forecast across the country’s regions from Sept. 29 through the evening of Sept. 30. Rain may be intense or heavy in some areas, accompanied by thunderstorms and hail. At higher elevations, the precipitation could turn to snow.
Flood Risk in Several Regions
River levels are expected to rise during the rainfall. The National Hydrometeorological Service warned that short-lived floods and mudflows could affect some rivers in the Greater Caucasus, Lesser Caucasus and Lankaran-Astara regions.
Drivers and residents in low-lying areas should account for the risk of localized flooding and reduced visibility during heavy rain.
