A fresh price review from an Araz Market supermarket in Sumgayit shows how much shoppers are paying for basic food items, from fruits and vegetables to dairy products, sausages, sweets and ice cream.
According to the video review, bananas were selling for 1.99 manats ($1.17) per kilogram, while cucumbers were priced at 99 gapiks ($0.58). Strawberries cost 3.49 manats ($2.05) per kilogram, apricots were offered for 3.99 manats ($2.35), and nectarines were available for 1.99 manats ($1.17).
The author of the video noted that fruit and vegetable prices in supermarkets are usually higher than in markets or smaller neighborhood shops.
In the nuts and dried fruit section, salted peanuts were priced at 5.99 manats ($3.52) per kilogram. Brown raisins cost 4.99 manats ($2.94) per kilogram, with a 200-gram package selling for about 1 manat ($0.59).
Cheese prices started at around 10.49 manats ($6.17) per kilogram. One of the cheeses shown in the review, “Kultura Rossii,” was priced at 11.49 manats ($6.76).
In the dairy section, Azersud sour cream with 20 percent fat content cost 2.59 manats ($1.52) for a 325-gram package. Doctor Milk sour cream with 25 percent fat content was priced at 2.70 manats ($1.59). Belarusian sour cream “Slavyanskiye Traditsii” was on sale for 2.95 manats ($1.74), while “Minskaya Marka” with 25 percent fat content cost 3.39 manats ($1.99).
A 500-gram package of Aklass ice cream was priced at 4.85 manats ($2.85). The store also offered several new types of ice cream, including caramel, almond, white chocolate and pistachio varieties.
In the meat section, Rahmat boiled chicken sausage was selling for 9.89 manats ($5.82) per kilogram. Turkey sausage from the same range was priced at the same level. Sevimli Dad “Moskovskaya” sausage cost 19.55 manats ($11.50) per kilogram, with a package of around 500 grams selling for 9.54 manats ($5.61).
In the fish section, smoked Caspian sprat was priced at 2.49 manats ($1.46) per 100 grams.
The review also showed sunflower oil for 5.80 manats ($3.41) per liter, rye bread for 1.23 manats ($0.72) and several types of sweets. Rot Front caramel was priced at 5.99 manats ($3.52) per kilogram, Marsianka sweets at 7.99 manats ($4.70), “Zolotaya Liliya” at 13.45 manats ($7.91), and Monaco truffle sweets at about 17 manats ($10) per kilogram.
The review suggests that while some products were available at promotional prices, many everyday items in supermarkets remain noticeably expensive for ordinary shoppers.
