Preliminary reports indicate that several unmanned aerial vehicles approached the region, though it remains unclear how many were intercepted or whether any reached their intended targets.
There has been no official confirmation from Azerbaijani authorities regarding the number of drones involved or potential damage on the ground. No casualties have been reported so far.
Nakhchivan, an Azerbaijani exclave bordering Iran, Turkey and Armenia, holds significant strategic importance. Any attack on the region could further heighten tensions in the South Caucasus amid the broader escalation involving Iran in the Middle East.
Officials are expected to provide further details as the situation develops.
