Sea Breeze, a major resort and residential development on the Caspian coast near Baku, is preparing to open an artificial-wave pool that will allow visitors to surf throughout the year.
Businessman and developer Emin Agalarov announced the project in a video shared on social media.
According to Agalarov, the resort is building a giant pool equipped with technology capable of generating artificial waves.
“The biggest artificial wave will be at Sea Breeze,” he said. “We are building the largest pool at Sea Breeze for surfing.”
Agalarov said the facility would make surfing possible throughout the year, regardless of weather conditions or natural wave activity in the Caspian Sea.
A separate artificial island has already been created for the project, he added.
“Sea Breeze surfing. Coming very soon,” Agalarov said.
What Is Sea Breeze?
Sea Breeze is a large privately developed resort community on the Absheron Peninsula, along the Caspian Sea coast outside the capital of Azerbaijan.
The development combines hotels, apartment residences, villas, beaches, restaurants, entertainment venues and other tourism infrastructure. Its official website says the project now covers approximately 750 hectares and includes more than 50 completed or ongoing developments, over 50 restaurants, cafes and bars, 60 swimming pools and about seven kilometers of landscaped beachfront.
Founded and developed by Agalarov, Sea Breeze has grown from a seaside leisure destination into one of Azerbaijan’s largest privately led tourism and real estate projects.
The exact dimensions of the surfing pool, the cost of the project and its planned opening date have not yet been disclosed.
Agalarov’s claim that the facility will feature the largest artificial wave has not been independently verified.
