Azerbaijan and Kyrgyzstan are expected to sign a package of bilateral documents during President Ilham Aliyev’s state visit to the Central Asian country.
Aliyev arrived in Cholpon-Ata on July 30 accompanied by First Lady Mehriban Aliyeva. They were welcomed at Issyk-Kul International Airport by Kyrgyz President Sadyr Japarov and First Lady Aigul Japarova.
The main program is scheduled for July 31. Aliyev and Japarov will hold one-on-one talks before attending the third meeting of the Azerbaijan-Kyrgyzstan Interstate Council. The discussions will focus on bilateral relations and opportunities to expand cooperation.
The specific agreements to be signed have not yet been disclosed.
During the first day of the visit, Aliyev joined the presidents of Kyrgyzstan, Uzbekistan and Tajikistan at the opening of a golf club in Cholpon-Ata.
The Azerbaijani leader will also attend an informal consultative meeting of the heads of Azerbaijan and the five Central Asian states, taking place near Issyk-Kul from July 30 through August 1.
The regional talks are expected to cover trade, energy, tourism, transport corridors, security and cooperation within international organizations.
Azerbaijan became a full participant in the Central Asian leaders’ consultative format in November 2025, reflecting Baku’s growing political and economic engagement with the region.
