More than 100,000 five-year-old children in Azerbaijan will be able to attend school-based preparation groups, with the program expected to cover 93% of that age group.
Ashki Baghirov, director of the State Agency for Preschool and General Education, announced the new figures as part of a broader expansion of preschool education.
About 34,000 places have been allocated this year for children attending schools in remote rural communities. In the coming years, the agency plans to expand coverage, improve the professional qualifications of preschool teachers and strengthen financial incentives for their work.
Baghirov also said the agency plans to revise educational program content and improve the process used to select school principals and other administrators. Specific changes to the recruitment system have not yet been disclosed.
