Honored Journalist of Azerbaijan Azer Hasrat said during a live broadcast on Media Turk TV that “üzdəniraqlar” – a derogatory colloquial term referring to homosexuals – should not be allowed to appear on television.
“Among these presenters, forgive me, but there are quite a few homosexuals. Üzdəniraqs must not be allowed on air. Television is an example. It is an example for the growing generation. Small children, primary school students are watching – what will they learn from this? Bad examples are contagious. Especially bad examples.
A child sees: this person is famous, has a lot of money, everyone revolves around them. And thinks – this is what life is. I will become like that too. This is how we lose a generation,” he said.
As reported by Vesti Baku, Hasrat stressed that individuals he described as “üzdəniraq” should not work as television hosts.
He also criticized the appearance of individuals who have been divorced multiple times, arguing that they should not speak publicly about family morality and values.
Hasrat cited Germany as an example, claiming that the growth of same-sex relationships has led to a demographic crisis.
“As the number of homosexuals increases in Germany, the family institution collapses. Normal families disappear. Birth rates fall. The German nation is deteriorating,” he said.
He further argued that allowing homosexuals on air benefits Azerbaijan’s external adversaries and claimed it serves the interests of Moscow, Tehran, and Armenia.
In conclusion, he called for stricter regulation of television, expanded powers for the audiovisual regulator, substantial fines, and the possibility of shutting down television channels.
