The South Caucasus is now viewed as a region of cooperation and development rather than conflict and instability, Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan said in a message to Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev.
Erdogan made the assessment in a congratulatory message marking the sixth anniversary of Azerbaijan’s Victory Day.
He linked the change in the region to coordinated efforts to establish lasting peace, calm and stability.
Erdogan said Ankara and Baku would continue close cooperation and solidarity in bilateral relations and on the international stage. He cited the Shusha Declaration and the principle of “one nation, two states.”
The Turkish president also said the return of Azerbaijani territories was a source of pride for the wider Turkic world and that reconstruction and revival in those areas were advancing rapidly.
