Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev met Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic in Belgrade on Saturday for talks focused on expanding energy cooperation, investment flows and broader strategic ties between the two countries.

Following the meeting, the leaders said they planned to deepen political and economic cooperation, with particular emphasis on natural gas supplies, electricity generation projects and infrastructure development. Discussions included increasing Azerbaijani gas exports to Serbia and plans to build a gas-fired power plant with a capacity of around 500 megawatts.

The two sides also reviewed prospects for renewable energy cooperation, electricity transmission and potential exports to European markets, reflecting Azerbaijan’s growing role as a regional energy supplier.

Beyond energy, Aliyev and Vucic discussed trade, investment, transport connectivity and preparations for the EXPO-2027 exhibition in Belgrade. The leaders also highlighted expanding tourism links and the planned launch of direct flights between Baku and Belgrade.

Aliyev said the countries would continue supporting each other’s sovereignty and territorial integrity in international forums while advancing joint economic initiatives. Vucic described bilateral relations as developing dynamically and expressed confidence in further strengthening cooperation.

Further high-level contacts and reciprocal visits are expected later this year as the two governments move forward with agreed projects.
