A new shipment of Russian grain weighing 2,869 tons has been sent to Armenia through Azerbaijan, adding to a growing flow of goods along the reopened transit route.
The shipment included 20 railcars carrying 1,400 tons of barley and 21 railcars loaded with 1,469 tons of wheat, according to Report. The trains departed from Bilajari station toward Boyuk Kesik on the Azerbaijan-Georgia border.
Nearly 60,000 tons of grain have now been transported from Russia to Armenia through Azerbaijan.
Previous shipments also included more than 9,000 tons of fertilizer, 1,414 tons of propane, 1,114 tons of coal, 608 tons of timber and 133 tons of aluminum.
Direct Azerbaijani exports to Armenia are expanding as well. Azerbaijan has supplied Armenia with nearly 17,000 tons of diesel and about 5,000 tons of AI-92 and AI-95 gasoline.
The growing cargo volumes show that normalization between Baku and Yerevan is moving beyond political declarations and producing regular commercial and transit operations.
Azerbaijan is increasingly serving as a transport link for Russian goods bound for Armenia, while simultaneously developing its own exports to the neighboring country.
