BAKU — President Ilham Aliyev has approved Azerbaijan’s state program for the development of the mining and metallurgical industries from 2027 through 2030, formally moving plans for a full domestic production chain into the implementation stage.
Aliyev signed the order on Sept. 23, according to Vesti Baku.
The Cabinet of Ministers was instructed to coordinate the measures included in the program, oversee their implementation and submit an annual progress report to the president.
The Center for Analysis of Economic Reforms and Communication will monitor and evaluate the program’s results at the government’s request.
The Finance and Economy ministries must provide for the required spending each year when drafting the state budget and public investment programs. The published order did not specify the total amount of financing.
The program covers more than the extraction of metal ores. It also calls for the development of processing capacity and the production of higher-value goods, reflecting plans discussed at a government meeting the previous day.
