Azerbaijan’s population reached 10,276,566 as of August 1, 2026, an increase of 14,215 people, or 0.14%, since the beginning of the year.
The figures were released by Azerbaijan’s State Statistical Committee.
Average Growth of About 67 People a Day
Based on the latest total, the country’s population stood at approximately 10,262,351 at the start of 2026. The net increase during January-July therefore averaged about 67 people per day.
The 0.14% rise over seven months points to moderate population growth rather than a sharp demographic expansion.
Urban Residents Make Up the Majority
The official breakdown shows that 54.3% of the population lives in urban areas, while 45.7% lives in rural communities. Applied to the total population, that equals roughly 5.58 million urban residents and 4.70 million rural residents.
Men account for 49.8% of the population and women for 50.2% – approximately 5.12 million men and 5.16 million women. The difference is about 41,000 in favor of women.
