A blogger in Azerbaijan has been fined after authorities said several videos she posted on social media violated public morality standards.

According to prosecutors, S. Abbasova, born in 1996, was held administratively liable following an investigation into her social media activity.

The General Prosecutor’s Office said her actions were assessed under Article 510.2 of Azerbaijan’s Code of Administrative Offenses, which concerns actions in internet information resources or telecommunications networks that publicly display content considered offensive to public morality or demonstrating open disrespect toward society.

The case was reviewed by the Surakhani District Court in Baku.

Authorities said the blogger, who has more than 140,000 followers on Instagram, posted several videos in which she performed oriental-style dance movements to foreign-language music. In other posts, investigators said, she displayed parts of her body without any commercial purpose or brand promotion.

Following the court hearing, the judge imposed a fine of 1,000 manats.

Cases involving social media content have periodically drawn attention in Azerbaijan, where authorities say the law allows administrative penalties when online materials are deemed to violate public morality or societal norms.
