Starting March 26, moped riders in Azerbaijan will be required to carry a valid A1 category driver’s license, along with a vehicle registration certificate and a state license plate.
The announcement was made by the Main Department of the State Traffic Police (DYP) under the Ministry of Internal Affairs.
Authorities urged those planning to operate a moped to apply in advance to their local registration and examination offices, noting that the deadline is approaching. All procedures, officials said, will be carried out under unified rules to ensure equal and efficient service.
Drivers who fail to comply with the new requirements after March 26 may face administrative penalties.
The move comes amid a noticeable rise in the number of mopeds on Azerbaijan’s roads and is aimed at strengthening traffic safety regulations.
