BAKU, Oct. 20 - A prosecutor has requested a 12-year prison sentence for Meclis.info website head Imran Aliyev and an 11-year term for civic activist Elgiz Gahraman. The court has not issued a verdict.
The state prosecutor addressed the Baku Court of Grave Crimes on Oct. 20 at a hearing chaired by Judge Roman Alakbarli, APA reported.
Another defendant, Tamella Musayeva, became ill during the hearing, preventing the prosecutor from completing the address. The next hearing is scheduled for Nov. 3.
The charges listed by the agency include illegal entrepreneurship, laundering property obtained through crime, smuggling, tax evasion and document forgery.
The prison terms sought represent the prosecution’s request, not a court decision.
