A man in Baku assaulted his wife during an argument in their bedroom but was later released from criminal liability after the couple reconciled.
The incident occurred at the couple’s apartment in the Sabunchu district of the Azerbaijani capital, according to local media reports citing court materials.
The man, identified under the assumed name Islam, was born in 1983. He reportedly argued with his wife, identified as Vafa, after she allegedly responded to him in a rude manner.
During the dispute, the man struck his wife once in the head with his fist and slapped her once across the face, causing injuries.
The woman sought medical treatment and later filed a complaint with law enforcement authorities. A criminal case was subsequently opened against her husband.
However, during the court proceedings, the woman withdrew her complaint, saying that she had forgiven her husband and no longer had any claims against him.
The Sabunchu District Court took the reconciliation into account and terminated the criminal proceedings. The man was released from criminal liability under Article 73.2 of Azerbaijan’s Criminal Code.
