Aliyev Receives Jordanian Foreign Minister as Direct Flights Discussed

Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev received Jordan’s Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates Ayman Safadi on July 8, with the sides discussing bilateral cooperation and the possible launch of regular direct flights.

Safadi conveyed greetings from King Abdullah II ibn Al Hussein of Jordan and delivered an invitation for Aliyev to visit the kingdom.

He said the Jordanian king highly values his personal relationship with the Azerbaijani president.

Aliyev thanked him for the message and asked Safadi to convey his greetings to King Abdullah II. The Azerbaijani president also invited the Jordanian monarch to visit Azerbaijan.

Aliyev recalled with satisfaction his meetings with King Abdullah II in Azerbaijan, Jordan and at international events.

During the meeting, the sides noted that mutual visits and contacts at different levels play an important role in strengthening relations between the two countries. They said ties between Azerbaijan and Jordan are based on friendship and brotherhood.

The discussions also covered opportunities to expand cooperation in politics, the economy, energy, connectivity, investment, humanitarian issues and other areas.

The sides exchanged views on regional issues, future contacts, expanding the work of the intergovernmental commission and developing interparliamentary cooperation.

Tourism was discussed separately. In this context, the sides reviewed the possibility of opening regular direct flights between Azerbaijan and Jordan.
