Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev said modern threats are not only physical but also ideological, accusing foreign-funded media organizations of seeking to undermine constitutional order and public cohesion.
Speaking on September 17 during a meeting with senior security officials from member states of the Organization of Turkic States, Aliyev called for joint action against ideological provocations directed at their countries and societies.
The president said some media organizations operate far beyond the region while receiving financing from what he described as “certain centers.”
“This financing is aimed at undermining the state structure of our countries, disrupting public solidarity, and imposing alien narratives and values,” Aliyev said.
He added that Azerbaijan is actively countering such information and ideological threats and, in his assessment, has achieved significant results.
The remarks came as officials discussed security cooperation among OTS member states and responses to contemporary cross-border threats.
