Turkish Aerospace will produce 14 HÜRKUŞ-2 next-generation training aircraft for Azerbaijan, with one of the planes displayed in Baku for the first time at the ADEX 2026 defense exhibition.
The HÜRKUŞ-2 is intended primarily for military pilot training, according to Vesti Baku. A delivery schedule, contract value and other financial terms have not been publicly disclosed.
The aircraft’s appearance was among the most prominent new elements of Azerbaijan-Türkiye military-technical cooperation at ADEX, which is taking place at the Baku Expo Center from Sept. 30 to Oct. 2. The deal adds to cooperation between the two countries on unmanned systems and the localization of defense production.
Education and Technology Cooperation
Azerbaijani and Turkish agencies also signed a memorandum at the exhibition covering defense-industry cooperation in higher education, scientific research, technology and personnel training.
The document was signed by representatives of Azerbaijan’s Ministry of Defense Industry and Ministry of Science and Education, Türkiye’s Presidency of Defense Industries and the Turkish Council of Higher Education.
A separate agreement was concluded between the Defense Industry Academy and the Azerbaijan Defense Industry Research and Innovation Center. The agreements create a framework not only for equipment purchases but also for joint specialist training and technological development.
