Azerbaijan and Türkiye have signed a package of defense agreements worth more than $500 million, expanding bilateral cooperation across aircraft, radar, electronic protection and coastal defense systems.
Haluk Görgün, head of Türkiye’s Presidency of Defense Industries, announced the agreements after the ADEX 2026 defense exhibition in Baku. The package includes training and combat aircraft, radar equipment, loitering munitions, electronic protection systems and coastal defense technology, according to Vesti Baku.
Turkish Aerospace Industries, or TUSAŞ, signed a contract covering HÜRKUŞ aircraft. Officials had previously said Azerbaijan would receive 14 HÜRKUŞ-2 aircraft.
ASELSAN signed a memorandum involving its ALP-100 radar, while Baykar concluded contracts for Mızrak smart loitering munitions and the Antidot electronic protection system. Roketsan signed an agreement covering the Barbaros coastal defense complex.
ASELSAN and Azerbaijan’s NOVASIS also reached a preliminary agreement to establish an enterprise in Nakhchivan. The companies did not disclose the plant’s timetable, planned production or other commercial details.
The new agreements broaden the defense relationship beyond equipment purchases by adding local production and support for complex systems. A separate report by Daily Sabah, citing Anadolu Agency, also put the combined value above $500 million.
