Azerbaijan exported about 700 million cubic meters of natural gas to Greece in the first eight months of 2026, Energy Minister Parviz Shahbazov said after talks in Athens.
Shahbazov met Greek Environment and Energy Minister Stavros Papastavrou to discuss the current state of bilateral energy ties and options for expanding cooperation, according to Vesti Baku. The 700 million-cubic-meter figure was also reported by Trend, citing Shahbazov.
The Southern Gas Corridor and its European segment, the Trans Adriatic Pipeline, or TAP, remain the main infrastructure carrying Azerbaijani gas to Greece and other European markets.
The ministers also discussed the Greece-Bulgaria Interconnector, known as IGB, which expands regional supply routes and supports energy security in southeastern Europe.
Azerbaijan’s Energy Ministry said 7.5 billion cubic meters of Azerbaijani gas were delivered to European countries through Türkiye during January-August 2026. The talks also covered renewable energy, electricity interconnections and prospects for exporting green power from the Caspian region to Europe.
A Greek account of the Sept. 30 meeting said the discussions emphasized supply diversification, energy security and further development of the Southern Gas Corridor.
