All three Azerbaijani citizens aboard the cargo vessel KHORYV have been rescued after a drone strike off Romania’s Black Sea coast, Azerbaijan’s Foreign Ministry said on Oct. 23.
The vessel was attacked 13 nautical miles from the Romanian port of Constanța. It had 13 crew members: 10 Ukrainian citizens and three Azerbaijani citizens, according to APA and Report.az.
Aykhan Hajizada, head of the Foreign Ministry’s press service department, said all three Azerbaijani crew members were rescued. One of them, Rufan Khalig oghlu Ahmadov, born in 1992, sustained minor injuries, underwent a medical examination and was accommodated at a hotel.
Azerbaijan’s Embassy in Romania is coordinating with the relevant authorities and providing consular support to the Azerbaijani citizens, Hajizada said.
Foreign Ministry Repeats Black Sea Travel Warning
The ministry again urged Azerbaijani citizens to avoid regions where hostilities are underway or security conditions are unstable. It also advised them not to work on transport operating along high-risk routes, particularly vessels in the Black Sea and the Sea of Azov.
The confirmation that all three Azerbaijanis were rescued is a new development following earlier reports that the KHORYV sank after the strike.
