President Ilham Aliyev attended the opening of the fully renovated Cultural Center in Khankendi on May 28.
Elchin Yusubov, the president’s special representative in Khankendi, Khojaly and Aghdara districts, briefed the head of state on the work carried out at the site.
The Cultural Center building in Khankendi was originally constructed in the 1960s and 1970s. After decades of use, its load-bearing structures had suffered wear, deformation and other damage.
Following the reconstruction, the center now has the facilities needed for cultural and public events, concerts, theater performances, film screenings, presentations, creative programs, training sessions and administrative work.
The three-story building includes an assembly and cinema hall, a multifunctional area for clubs and activities, dressing rooms, a buffet, a ticket office and a souvenir shop.
The main hall has 348 seats and can host concerts, stage performances, film screenings, presentations, official meetings and other public events.
The renovated center is expected to play an important role in reviving Khankendi’s cultural life as the city’s population grows and more students, residents and public institutions return.
The project is part of Azerbaijan’s broader reconstruction work in the liberated territories, where housing, roads, infrastructure, public spaces and cultural facilities are being restored as life returns to cities and districts across Karabakh.
