Political analyst Rizvan Huseynov says the United States is not interested in becoming deeply involved in a military conflict with Iran, despite the continuing tensions around the region.
According to Huseynov, Iran is not a player on the same level as the world’s major powers. But that does not mean a military scenario against Tehran would be simple or risk-free.
He said the United States and Israel have not fully achieved their goals against Iran. In his view, Washington understands the danger of being pulled into a long and costly regional confrontation.
Huseynov argued that Iran, with support from China and partly from Russia, remains capable of resisting pressure. The issue, he said, is therefore not only whether Iran is weak or strong, but how the confrontation fits into a broader struggle over strategic routes and energy flows.
The analyst said Washington’s main objective is not to conquer Iran, but to gain control over the Persian Gulf and the Strait of Hormuz.
The corridor is one of the world’s most important routes for oil and gas shipments, including supplies moving toward China and Asia-Pacific markets.
In this reading, the confrontation around Iran is part of a wider contest over energy security and the emerging global order, where major powers are trying to secure their positions before the balance of power shifts further.
Huseynov also argued that British and transnational interests have played a role in obstructing peace efforts in major conflict zones, although his main point was that Washington’s priority around Iran is not occupation but control over strategic energy routes.
