The ministers discussed possible cooperation in the green transition, renewable energy, information and communication technologies, energy security, trade and investment.

The situation in the region was also discussed, including post-conflict realities and the normalization and peace process between Azerbaijan and Armenia.

Bayramov briefed the Canadian side on the history of the former conflict, the occupation of Azerbaijani territories and its consequences, according to the ministry. He also spoke about Azerbaijan’s efforts to support lasting peace and stability in the region.

Anand also wrote about the call on X, saying she had spoken with Bayramov about strengthening Canada-Azerbaijan relations and expanding cooperation in trade and investment.

“We also discussed developments in the South Caucasus and the importance of a durable long-term peace including the resolution of outstanding issues,” she wrote.

The call comes as Azerbaijan and Armenia continue talks aimed at finalizing a peace agreement after decades of conflict.
