Azerbaijani students and their families have been warned against trusting companies that promise guaranteed admission to foreign universities without entrance examinations.
The warning comes as the university major selection process ends in Azerbaijan. A total of 87,139 applicants are competing for 61,516 available places – meaning the number of candidates exceeds capacity by 25,623, or nearly 42%.
Amid the intense competition, education agencies offering admission abroad “based only on a high school diploma” have become increasingly active.
Education expert Mazahir Mammadli said studying abroad could be a good option, but admission alone should not be treated as the ultimate goal.
Students and their parents should first verify whether the university is officially recognized, whether its degree will be accepted in Azerbaijan and other countries, and whether the institution provides a credible education and realistic career opportunities.
According to Mammadli, the excitement of hearing “you have been admitted” could later turn into serious problems if the degree is not recognized. Graduates may face difficulties continuing their education, obtaining professional certification or finding employment.
He urged families not to make rushed decisions or blindly trust advertising claims such as “100% admission,” “admission without exams” and “university placement based only on a school certificate.”
Applicants should verify a university’s accreditation, reputation, academic requirements and degree-recognition status before signing a contract or paying tuition.
Admission to a foreign university does not automatically guarantee that the resulting diploma will be recognized.
