A Baku resident says he paid a deposit to have vehicles imported from abroad but received neither the cars nor documents confirming their purchase months later.
Ravan Valiyev told Xəzər Xəbər that he contacted a TikTok page called Narıncı Mustang, which advertised vehicle import services.
Valiyev said he later met a man named Farid, who introduced himself as a representative of the page. According to the complainant, they agreed that the vehicles would be delivered under an installment plan and subsequently registered through a leasing arrangement.
He said he was initially sent links to vehicle listings and was later informed that the cars had been purchased. However, he claims that no documents, photographs or videos confirming the transactions were provided.
Reporters contacted Farid by phone. He said he had discussed the matter with Valiyev and resolved the issue but declined to comment on the remaining allegations.
Valiyev disputed his account, insisting that no agreement had been reached.
Experts cited in the report warned that relying solely on social media posts and verbal promises when ordering a vehicle from abroad can result in serious financial losses.
Before making any payment, buyers should verify the intermediary’s or company’s legal registration, operating history and reputation. All terms should be included in a written contract.
Buyers should also request purchase documents, the vehicle identification number and shipping information. Payments should be transferred to an official account with the purpose clearly stated.
Valiyev’s allegations have not been independently verified. The report did not indicate whether authorities had opened a formal investigation.
