Azerbaijan and Armenia have agreed on draft instructions that will regulate the next stage of work on the delimitation of their state border, officials said after the latest meeting of the bilateral commissions.
The 13th meeting of the commissions was held April 29 in Aghavnavank, Armenia. The Azerbaijani delegation was led by Deputy Prime Minister Shahin Mustafayev, while the Armenian side was headed by Deputy Prime Minister Mher Grigoryan.
During the talks, the sides exchanged views on organizational and technical issues linked to the implementation of delimitation work. They also agreed on and exchanged the texts of three draft instructions.
The documents cover the working procedures of expert groups involved in delimitation, the preparation of a delimitation map, and the rules for drafting and publishing border delimitation documents between Azerbaijan and Armenia.
The sides agreed to submit the draft instructions to their respective governments for approval.
Mustafayev and Grigoryan also held a separate exchange of views on issues of mutual interest. The meeting noted that transit of cargo through Azerbaijani territory to Armenia is being carried out successfully and is continuing.
Officials also emphasized that Azerbaijan’s supply of petroleum products to Armenia is an indication that economic and trade ties are beginning to take shape between the two countries.
The sides discussed the development of economic and commercial cooperation with the participation of business representatives, mutual supplies of goods and services, and transit transportation.
According to the statement, the results achieved so far were made possible by the political will of Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev and Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan.
A protocol was signed following the meeting.
The next meeting of the commissions will be held in Azerbaijan, with the date to be agreed through working channels.
