A Baku resident says he was fined by AzParking even though he had activated a paid parking session through the app and confirmed the payment with Face ID.
The complaint concerns a parking zone on Ahmad Rajabli Street in the Azerbaijani capital. Bahadur Seyidov said he parked his car there on May 19 at around 1 p.m., opened the AzParking app, selected the parking area, started the session and confirmed the payment through Apple Pay.
“This is the second issue I have had with AzParking. The first time, I doubted myself and thought maybe I had done something wrong. But the second time, I was sure I had completed the process,” Seyidov said.
According to him, the app asked for Face ID confirmation after he selected the parking location and started the session. He said he approved the payment, but several hours later received a fine.
Seyidov said he later opened the app to check the session and found no active parking record. He said the session was also missing from the app’s history.
“I called AzParking. They told me to check whether I had an active parking session for that day. I checked and there was none. It was not in the history either. So because I have no proof in my hands, everything I say remains only a claim,” he said.
The driver said AzParking’s support service told him that if the session was not visible in the app or history, the responsibility was his.
The case has renewed complaints from some users about the parking system in Baku. Users have alleged that sessions confirmed through Face ID later disappear from the app, SMS-based parking payments stop without clear warning, and in some cases bank cards are charged more than once.
Azerbaijan’s Land Transport Agency said citizens can submit parking-related complaints, including claims over unlawful fines, through AYNA’s 141 call center, by email or through the agency’s official social media channels.
The agency said complaints concerning specific cases are reviewed and responses are sent directly to the applicants.
