Prices for used automobile parts in Azerbaijan have risen sharply, with some components becoming up to 40% more expensive amid supply shortages and higher transportation costs.
Sellers say the scale of the increase varies by product. Many second-hand parts sold in Azerbaijan are shipped through Dubai, where supplies have also become harder to obtain and prices have increased.
Purchase prices have reportedly risen by 10% to 15%, while logistics costs are up by around 15%. Together, those increases have pushed prices on the Azerbaijani market approximately 30% higher for many commonly requested parts.
A used car door that previously cost 100 manats, or about $59, is now selling for 120 to 140 manats, roughly $71 to $82.
The increases are even steeper for scarce components. Some parts previously sold for 250 to 300 manats, or $147 to $176, are now being offered for 450 to 500 manats, equivalent to approximately $265 to $294.
Market participants say imports of used parts have slowed significantly because of disruptions along transportation routes. As fewer new shipments arrive, sellers are relying on remaining inventories, allowing some traders to charge considerably more for difficult-to-find components.
Economists say the increase is not caused by logistics alone. Higher purchase prices, rising freight costs and disruptions affecting Red Sea shipping routes have all contributed to higher final prices for consumers.
The availability of affordable used parts also depends on the number of older and accident-damaged vehicles being dismantled. When fewer vehicles are available for dismantling and imported supplies decline, the selection of parts shrinks and prices rise.
Drivers are advised to compare prices from several sellers and use reputable online platforms to order parts directly when possible, reducing the risk of paying artificially inflated prices.
