Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev has allocated more than 85 million manats to address the aftermath of floods and mudflows that caused serious damage in Baku and several regions of the country.

The order was signed by the head of state, Vesti Baku reported, citing Report.

According to the document, heavy rains in March and April triggered floods and mudflows that damaged agricultural areas, infrastructure facilities, roads, bridges, power lines and residential buildings.

The funds will be used to continue recovery work and help prevent similar incidents in the future. The money will come from the president’s reserve fund under Azerbaijan’s 2026 state budget.

The total allocation amounts to 85,869,260 manats.

The largest share will go to the State Agency of Automobile Roads, which is set to receive 39.1 million manats. The State Water Resources Agency will receive 21.44 million manats, while Azerishig will receive 15 million manats to address damage related to the electricity network.

The Ministry of Emergency Situations will receive 8.87 million manats, and the Baku City Executive Authority will receive 1.43 million manats.

The allocation shows the scale of damage caused by the spring floods, especially in transport, water management and power infrastructure. It also points to a broader concern over whether existing drainage, road and utility systems are prepared for increasingly severe weather events.
