After a nearly two-month lull, Azerbaijan’s wedding season is picking up again, with banquet halls expecting a sharp increase in celebrations from the second half of August.

Popular dates at many venues have already been booked well in advance, while the cost of hosting a traditional wedding remains a major financial burden for young couples.

According to Baku TV, restaurant operators say there has been no dramatic price increase ahead of the new season. However, wedding costs in Baku continue to vary significantly depending on the venue, menu package and number of guests.

Previously published price lists provide an indication of the current market. In the more affordable segment, banquet menus have been available for roughly 50–80 manats ($29-47) per person.

Aura Hall, for example, listed packages of around 50-70 manats, while Nazlı Saray offered menus for approximately 50-75 manats. Hissa Saray ranged from about 60 to 90 manats, while Mona Liza offered options at roughly 60-80 manats per guest.

Prices rise substantially in the mid-range and premium segments.

At Alp Saray, menu prices have reached around 160 manats per person, while Ağ Saray has offered packages of up to 165 manats. Buta Palace has listed options ranging from approximately 150 to 300 manats.

Among the most expensive venues, Böyük Saray has offered packages priced at 250, 300 and 400 manats ($147-235) per guest. In February 2026, the venue was again cited among Baku’s most expensive wedding halls, with prices starting at around 250 manats per person.

For a wedding with 300 guests, the restaurant bill alone can therefore vary enormously.

At 50 manats per guest, the banquet would cost about 15,000 manats ($8,800). At 100 manats per guest, the bill rises to 30,000 manats ($17,600). Premium packages priced at 250-400 manats would bring the restaurant cost to between 75,000 and 120,000 manats ($44,000-70,600).

Those figures do not include wedding attire, transportation, photography and video services, musicians, decorations and other related expenses.

Economists link the high cost of wedding services to overall inflation, rising food prices and higher operating expenses for restaurants. Venue owners, they say, are forced to adjust prices to maintain profitability.

For many young couples, the traditional large Azerbaijani wedding is therefore becoming increasingly difficult to afford.

One person interviewed by Baku TV said many young people want to hold an elaborate wedding but simply cannot afford the expense, adding that the financial pressure may even cause some couples to postpone marriage.

Against this backdrop, smaller weddings with fewer guests are becoming increasingly attractive. At current prices, the number of invitees is now one of the biggest factors determining the final cost of a wedding in Baku.
